Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-M-PRO — Detailed description
Overview
The UniFi UAP-AC-M-PRO is Ubiquiti’s rugged, outdoor-ready “Mesh Pro” access point that brings UniFi-class management and high-capacity Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) performance to wide outdoor areas. It’s built for campuses, parks, stadium concourses, and other outdoor deployments where long range, high client density and flexible powering/mounting options matter. Tech Specs+1
Key technical highlights (at a glance)
-
Dual-band 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) with multi-user MIMO — 3×3 spatial streams for high throughput and better multi-client performance. Router-Switch.com+1
-
Typical aggregated throughput up to the 1–1.7 Gbps class depending on configuration (marketing numbers vary by source and region). Router-Switch.com+1
-
Extended outdoor coverage — designed omni-directional “Super Antenna” for long-range 360° coverage (coverage estimates commonly cited around 180–600 ft / ~55–180 m depending on environment). Router-Switch.com+1
-
Weatherized, pole/wall mount kit included — purpose-built enclosure and mounting hardware for permanent outdoor installations. UniFi
Performance & radios
The UAP-AC-M-PRO uses 3×3 MIMO across dual radios to serve many clients concurrently and deliver robust real-world throughput on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This design improves spatial diversity and resilience in noisy environments, making it a good choice for high-density outdoor areas. Expect better range on 2.4 GHz but higher top speeds on 5 GHz. Deployment, management & features
-
Managed centrally by the UniFi Controller (on-prem or Cloud Key) — adoption, RF planning, guest portals, seamless roaming and full analytics are available
-
Mesh-capable — supports plug-and-play mesh links to extend coverage where cabling is impractical.
-
VLAN, captive portal, band-steering, airtime fairness and other enterprise features included in the UniFi feature set. Tech Specs
Physical & power considerations
-
Size & weight: fairly large for an AP (device dimensions ~343 × 181 × 60 mm, ~633 g), so plan mounts accordingly.
-
Power: supports 802.3af and includes a Gigabit PoE adapter in single-pack versions; five-packs may omit adapters (recommend using a UniFi PoE switch for multi-unit deployments)
